AKIRA KOSEMURA
THE BOY AND THE DOG ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK
March 20th Release!!
The original soundtrack for the film "The Boy and The Dog" composed by Akira Kosemura will be released.
The production team of the film “Fragments of the Last Will” reunited again to produce the film “The Boy and The Dog”, an adaptation of Seishu Hase’s masterpiece novel “The Boy and The Dog” (publisher Bunshun Bunko) which won the 163rd Naoki Prize in 2020 and has sold over 500,000 copies. Seishu Hase continues to lead the Japanese literature as a standard-bearer of noir novels.
Akira Kosemura, who composed the music for this film, has taken a new sound approach by incorporating distinctive sounds such as a reed organ used in Taisho-era and a traditional Irish Eirean pipes, in addition to his signature sound of piano and strings in a modern classical style. In the last half of the film, Akira adds in the ambient piano sound which he commonly used since his debut album, as if in response to the atmosphere change of the story. The mellow ambience with the unique tone and melody creates its own worldview which envelops the entire film, and each music beautifully depicts the irreplaceable bond between a boy and a dog facing a cruel fate, and the miracle waiting beyond a long journey.
