synfilums
antonym
The duo project "synfilums" by Shin Kikuchi and Itoko Toma releases their fifth album "antonym" from the label "88 landscapes" under SCHOLE.
Much like breeding a new variety of cherry blossom, Kikuchi draws upon his imagination to envision an unseen form while honoring the essence of what came before. He has channeled these internal visions into both the music and the artwork of this project.
Background and subject; clashing sounds and colors—as these elements intermingle and are woven together, they are reborn into a new harmony.
In terms of music, this work is a "rework," deconstructing and reconstructing the piano tones recorded for his previous album, synonym. Selecting and layering the three-dimensional resonance captured by eight microphones, Kikuchi blended these sounds with different "colors" and textures to transform them into something entirely new. Collaborating artists closely associated with Schole Records also contributed to the reworks, depicting a "dreamlike row of cherry trees" that is both multilayered and ethereal.
Flowers falling, leaves changing color, and eventually revealing the beautiful skeleton of the branches—Takayama adds a unique perspective to the beauty of nature and the cherry blossoms as they transform through the four seasons, pursuing a vision of the cherry blossom never seen before.
To gaze at sound and to listen to a painting. This is a special work that packages the story of synfilums through the union of artwork and music.
It fits perfectly into the case of the separately sold work "synonym".
